how do you book cheap domestic travel?

In: advice, travel

I want to fly home Christmas week but the cheapest fares I’m finding are $700 and that’s way too much for SJC to STL. For that price, I should be flying somewhere more fun (sorry STL). So I’m curious, where do you find cheap domestic airfare?
UPDATE: has anyone used Priceline? Let me […]

America West Amusement

In: travel

I’m in DTW right now (finally heading to San Jose) with about an hour to kill before my flight takes off. The America West gate agent just made the following announcement, “If you checked in via the web and printed your boarding pass at home, please see the gate agent to reprint your boarding […]

United [Not So] Express

In: travel, unsent letters

I spent most of Saturday stuck in Dulles - my flight was supposed to get into Detroit at 2 p.m. but I finally got to my car at 8:30 p.m. Yep, the flight was delayed for over six hours. I’m not really sure who to blame - United, United Express, Mesa (the […]

The New York Recap

In: photos, travel

I finally finished uploading and editing all of the photos that I took during my trip to New York. I took over 900 photos during my week-long visit (and that’s not counting all of the ones that I deleted) and uploaded a little over 800 to flickr. Here’s a recap of my trip, […]

New York

In: advice, travel

I’ll be in New York next week visiting my sister. I’ll be there for about a week. What must I absolutely do? This will be my first real* visit. Here is what’s on my list so far:

The Guggenheim
American Museum of Natural History
Empire State Building
A Sopranos tour through Jersey (you know in […]

I’m home!

In: family, travel

I’m home and I’ve already seen my nieces! My brother surprised us by coming in a few days earlier than anticipated. I surprised my mom by coming in last night (she was expecting me later in the week, too). Today, my sister will surprise my mom by flying in from NYC in […]

Indiana it is

In: travel

Based on everyone’s feedback, I’m going to avoid Chicagoland and go south through Indiana and then cut across to Illinois. I think I might stop by Bloomington to checkout the IUB campus and crash a conference! ;)

I still have some packing to do but I’m hoping to get it all done in a few hours. I took a break from packing and created a road trip playlist for my iPod. I started picking only car and driving songs but then just started adding all sort of music that I like (especially stuff that I haven’t listened to in a while). Full playlist is below the fold.

help me plan my Ann Arbor exodus

In: travel

I’m moving out and driving home next Wednesday. Along with packing up my entire apartment and saying bye to the fraction of my social network that is actually still in Ann Arbor, I have two very important decisions to ponder: which route should I take and what should I play along the way? […]

Since we were at CHI for the Student Design Competition and as student volunteers, we didn’t really get a chance to explore Montreal. Our hotel was several blocks from the Palais des Congres so I saw a little bit of Montreal every day as I walked to the Palais. On our last day […]

apete, mattbot, d*, and I went to the CHI conference last week to present Fitster at the Student Design Competition. Out of 48 entries, we placed third! Fitster was by far the best group project I’ve ever worked on (with all due respect to all of my former teammates from other projects) and […]
