About two weeks ago, I started a beginning running program that I had found online. The first two weeks are pretty basic - alternate between running and walking for 30 minutes (1 minute run, 1.5 minutes walk, repeat). When I’ve had extra time this past week, I’ve been doing an hour of this run/walk routine, mostly because I’m now used to working out for about an hour and a half hour usually doesn’t feel enough. This morning, I was at Club One for my usual two-hour Saturday workout - an hour strength training class and an hour cardio. When I finished my hour of running/walking, I walked over to the functional training area to do some stretches. There was another woman doing some exercises with a medicine ball. As I was doing my stretches, she approached me and started telling me about how she was watching me when I was running. She said that I “inspired” her! She wanted to know how long I was on the treadmill and how long I’ve been running. I’m like, “Umm, I just started two weeks ago.” She also wanted to know if there was a trick to staying on the treadmill for that long. I didn’t really have any good advice for her, other than having a mini goal (only running for minute and getting rewarded with 90 seconds of walking) seemed to be helping.  I’m not sure I was much help to her but she really made my day!

Who knew, me, inspiring someone at the gym? :)
