For my birthday the other day, I got one snail-mail paper card (grandma), one phone call (dad), one postcard (insurance agent), and 4 emails (in-laws and brother.) Friends? Nada. Gifts? None. Lest that sound too pathetic, I really don't make a fuss over my birthday at all, and I did get to spend a really lovely evening with my husband. In my case, it seems like the communication methods varied based on how well the people know what I'm up to. Hey, that’s pretty interesting.
